NEED FOR DANISH KNOW-HOW IN OCEANIA
In Australia and New Zealand, wastewater is by far the biggest part of the waste stream, and there is a great political awareness of the challenges that lay ahead and willingness to improve wastewater emission and quality.
The Trade Councils in Oceania have decided to gather a group of Danish companies in a so-called ‘cluster’. The aim is to present Danish companies and their products to consultancy companies and political decision makers in both New Zealand and Australia.
Through this cluster, Danish companies will be present in the Oceania market without the necessity of a local distributor. In addition to this, a number of initiatives have been planned, i.e. sector delegations and key notes speakers from Denmark.
The initiative is based on recent research which concluded that the water quality in both New Zealand and Australia is decreasing. Increased emissions affect the eco system, and consequently both countries have earmarked money to a billion dollar project to improve water supply, waste water and storm water harvesting within the next ten years.
The decision makers in Oceania have expressed a great interest in Danish know-how on waste and wastewater and furthermore, New Zealand and Australia have allocated DKK 100 billion and DKK 60 billion, respectively, to improvements in this sector. This will increase the possibilities for Danish companies to export their technology and know-how to Oceania.
